Miguel learned to read — and found his future
When Miguel joined our Education program at age 7, he had never held a pencil. His family, living in one of Pisco’s most vulnerable neighborhoods, had no books at home and no money for school supplies.
After 18 months of tutoring and mentorship through Bright Smiles, Miguel not only learned to read — he became one of the top students in his class. His teacher says he now helps other children who are struggling.
Today Miguel is 10 years old and dreams of becoming a teacher himself. «I want to help other kids learn like I learned,» he says.
